Where Existing Methods Fail, Storm Armour Succeeds

With the increasing occurrence of severe weather events, there are currently no practical methods to reduce water intrusion through sliding glass door tracks.

Even top-of-the-line doors are vulnerable to water intrusion during severe weather events. This is because high winds create a vacuum effect that draws water under the tracks, causing costly damages to high-rise condominiums, townhouses, and private residences.

Rising costs of insurance premiums and disaster relief demand immediate attention to this problem.

  • Traditional methods like sandbags are challenging to transport and require significant physical effort to set up, making them impractical for individuals with limited mobility or physical capabilities.
  • Sandbags are difficult to store, transport, and deploy quickly.
  • Sandbags can topple, which is very dangerous. Even if set up correctly, sandbags will move when under extreme pressure.
  • You cannot discard sandbags in the trash or at the beach, you must follow regulations on how you dispose of them.
  • Sandbag preparation takes hours and takes valuable time away from making evacuation plans, packing, and storing valuables.
  • Sandbags cost thousands of dollars when trying to protect multiple doors
  • 40 30-pound sandbags cost more than a set of Storm Armour.

Install In Minutes

Storm Armour’s innovative three-part system works together to stop water from reaching your door’s tracks.

1. Exterior Guard

The patented exterior guard is installed on the outside of each sliding door. It deflects water
and minimizes the amount of water from reaching the door’s tracks.

2. Internal Seal

The patent pending internal seal is taped to the inside of the sliding glass doors, acting
as an impermeable layer of protection from water.

3. Open Cell Foam Wedge

The patent pending wedge is pressed into the interior gaps of the track behind the sliding
glass door panels and locked into position using interior clamps. This creates a watertight seal that
minimizes water intrusion from severe weather.

FAQs

I already have hurricane-rated sliding glass doors. Why do I need Storm Armour?

Hurricane-rated or not, sliding doors are built with weep holes that allow water that has entered to drain out. In high wind conditions, these weep holes do not function properly. This is because high winds create a vacuum effect that draws water under sliding door tracks. Storm Armour significantly decreases the amount of water that reaches your sliding door tracks. This innovative device is made up of two components: the Storm Armour Exterior Guard and the Storm Armour Internal Seal. These components work together seamlessly to form a comprehensive solution that effectively prevents up to 99% of water intrusion.

How is Storm Armour better than sandbags or other traditional methods?

Most methods block entry and exit ways, preventing you from getting in or out of the building once the bags are in place. Traditional methods like sandbags are challenging to transport and require significant physical effort to set up, making them impractical for individuals with limited mobility or physical capabilities. Sandbags are difficult to store, transport, and deploy quickly. Most methods can only be used once and are wasteful.

Sliding glass doors properly installed with Storm Armour allow normal functionality of the door. The Exterior Shield and Open Cell Foam Wedge pieces are reusable and the Interior Shield is cost-effective to replace. Storm Armour is easy to install and lightweight for easy storage.

Do I keep Storm Armour on my doors all the time?

No. Storm Armour should only be used in anticipation of and during a severe weather event.

How do I store the kit when I’m not using it?

For optimal storage, we recommend keeping the kit in a cool, dry location when not in use. Additionally, please refer to the packaging for further instructions to ensure proper care and maintenance. Following these guidelines will help preserve the kit’s quality and functionality for your convenience.

How long will my Storm Armour system last?

Storm Armour can endure multiple severe weather events but must be replaced approximately every five years. The Storm Armour Exterior Guard can be used repeatedly over this period of time, providing long-lasting protection against water intrusion during severe weather events. However, the Storm Armour Internal Seal is designed for single use only, meaning it needs to be replaced after each application, regardless of whether a storm occurs or the severity of the weather. Fortunately, this component is very inexpensive, making it easy and affordable to replace as needed for your continued peace of mind and protection.
